About the Opportunity:

The Lead/Senior Electrical Engineer will support the Collins Class Submarine Life of Type Extension (LOTE) program, as a member of the team responsible for integrating the LOTE Integrated Ship Control Management and Monitoring System and LOTE Control and Monitoring Mimic panels into the Submarine.

The Collins Class submarine fleet’s Life of Type Extension (LOTE) will provide the nation with submarine capability into the 2030’s. The Collins boats are internationally regarded among the best conventional submarines in the world. The project is currently in the detailed design phase and ASC is working closely with its stakeholders to deliver the Navy’s specific requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review and assess Vendor Furnished Information which includes technical documents, drawings and prototypes ensuring alignment with submarine and project specifications whilst meeting engineering standards.
  • Perform and review engineering calculations, document findings through structured Engineering Reports and contributing to the verification of system requirements.
  • Manage subcontractor technical performance and supplier engagement, ensuring deliverables meet quality, schedule, and compliance expectations within a Defence Technical Seaworthiness framework.
  • Support systems engineering processes, including witness testing, certification documentation, and risk treatment, while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to drive technical outcomes.

 

About You: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent, satisfying membership of Engineers Australia (or equivalent) at MIEAust level.
  • Experience applying Australian and International standards.
  • Systems Engineering knowledge.
  • Ability to work unsupervised and work well within a multi-discipline team.
  • Ability to build and maintain interpersonal and professional relationships with stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage parallel tasks, set priorities while maintaining a high work standard.
  • Defence experience is ideal but is not mandatory.

 

Eligibility:

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
