About the Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Finance Specialist – Bids & Estimating to join the SSN AUKUS Build Mobilisation Program. Reporting to the Head of Finance - SSN AUKUS, you will provide specialist financial expertise across bids, estimating, commercial and contractual activities, supporting the development of robust financial proposals, cost estimates and business cases.

Working within a complex and strategically significant program environment, you will partner with stakeholders across finance, commercial, program delivery and enterprise functions to provide financial analysis, modelling and decision support. You will apply specialist knowledge and sound judgement to resolve complex financial and commercial issues, identify risks and opportunities, and support delivery of program objectives.

This role operates with a high degree of autonomy within established frameworks and contributes to continuous improvement of estimating, costing and commercial finance practices.

As a trusted subject matter expert, you will apply specialist financial expertise and professional judgement to resolve moderately complex estimating, commercial and financial matters. You will provide analysis, recommendations and decision support that influence project, program and commercial outcomes while contributing to consistent delivery, risk management and continuous improvement.

This is a full-time opportunity based in South Australia.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist financial support across bids, contract change proposals and estimating activities.
• Develop, review and maintain cost estimates, financial models and pricing submissions to support commercial and program outcomes.
• Analyse financial, commercial and operational data to provide recommendations and support decision-making.
• Support the preparation of business cases, investment proposals and financial assessments for program initiatives.
• Partner with commercial, program and finance stakeholders to ensure estimating assumptions, risks and opportunities are appropriately captured and evaluated.
• Contribute to labour rate, overhead rate and cost recovery activities by providing analysis and recommendations.
• Monitor bid and estimating performance, identifying emerging risks, issues and opportunities and supporting mitigation activities.
• Support contractual and commercial reviews through financial analysis and assessment of financial impacts.
• Prepare management reporting, forecasting and scenario analysis to support program planning and performance management.
• Lead discrete finance workstreams and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives relating to estimating, modelling, reporting and financial processes.
• Build effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders while maintaining compliance with organisational and contractual requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and specialist expertise to colleagues and project teams as required.

About you 

• Tertiary qualification in Finance, Commerce or a related discipline, with full professional membership of CPA Australia, CA ANZ, CIMA or equivalent.
• Demonstrated experience in financial analysis, costing estimating, bids, pricing or commercial finance environments.
• Experience in developing financial models, cost estimates and scenario analysis to support decision-making.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate complex financial information and translate insights into practical recommendations.
• Experience supporting commercial, contractual or project-based activities within complex operating environments.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes with limited supervision.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence outcomes through expertise and evidence-based recommendations.
• Experience identifying and managing financial risks and contributing to mitigation strategies.
• Experience in Defence, infrastructure, engineering, construction, government or similarly complex environments will be highly regarded.
• Experience using financial modelling and reporting tools including Power BI will be advantageous.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
