Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer - SSN AUKUS Build Program

ASC is Australia’s submarine company. About the Opportunity 

This role represents a rare opportunity to work on the pioneering SSN AUKUS Build Program, delivering an essential sovereign capability for Australia. The role is responsible for ensuring that suppliers meet the quality standards and requirements of the organization. This role involves conducting technical reviews, quality assessments, and audits of supplier systems and operations. The engineer will actively engage with suppliers to support business processes, provide detailed reporting, and assist in supply chain development.  

Responsibilities 

  • Review and understand engineering design requirements for various applications. 
  • Identify potential suppliers of required goods and services to support the procurement plan. 
  • Conduct pre-qualification desktop reviews of potential manufacturers and suppliers for compliance with project requirements. 
  • Respond to requests for information from potential supply chain partners. 
  • Participate in on-site visits to assess supplier capabilities and quality control processes. 
  • Document findings of initial assessments and gap analyses. 
  • Review and compare equivalent international standards. 
  • Understand Objective Quality Evidence (OQE) requirements and results. 

Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone) is required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis. 

About you  

  • Educational qualifications satisfying membership of a relevant professional society (e.g., Engineers Australia) at a professional level
  • Previously worked in a shipbuilding environemnt
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in quality assurance or supply chain management. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to recognize and set appropriate priorities and work standards, with a high standard of personal organization
  • Demonstrated commercial acumen

Eligibility 

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance. 

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
