About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Trade Planning Team Lead – Mechanical, the Trade Planner Mechanical is responsible for developing detailed work packs for tasks associated with submarine mechanical systems maintenance, which will enable trade personnel to safely and efficiently execute maintenance tasks on board submarines and in workshops, ensuring the maintenance schedule for the Collins Class Submarines is fully supported and approved.

All work is required to be conducted in accordance with ASC and departmental processes and routines, ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, accuracy and repeatability across all ASC Corporate and Royal Australian Navy (RAN) planning systems and databases.

This is a full-time opportunity based at our Osborne site in SA.

 

Responsibilities

  • Generation of detailed work packs, and development of associated work orders and Maintenance Control Records, in an efficient manner in line with business and work group priorities.
  • Ensure all work produced is compliant with ASC and RAN processes, routines and workflows.
  • Teamwork, flexibility and support provided to Team Lead, other team members and other departmental personnel in order to ensure work priorities are met or exceeded.
  • Detailed review of Engineering specifications, documentation, work instructions and recommendations from applicable ASC and RAN Planning systems and other applicable information.

 

About you

  • Mechanical Trade Certificate and/or Mechanical engineering technician.
  • Proven understanding of mechanical planning principles and comprehensive project schedules (previous planning experience at a trade or project level desirable).
  • The ability to review and determine correct maintenance standards and drawings to develop consistent work packs, to ensure work can be carried out by the relevant employees and associates in a safe and reliable manner.
  • Demonstrated experience in liaising with relevant stakeholders and other Maintenance Planners to prioritise and revise work schedules.
  • The ability to assist Work Package Planners and Senior Trade Planners in the development of work scope, change and emergent work proposals.
  • Ability to interpret complex engineering specifications, documentation, recommendations and work instructions.
  • Mechanical maintenance experience and technical ability in a shipbuilding, submarine or heavy engineering environment (Desirable).
  • Effective communication skills both written and verbally, with a focus on attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and use initiative to produce quality results.
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel).
  • Previous experience in use of RAN SIMS and Corporate ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system (Desirable).

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
