An exciting career awaits you at ASC, Australia's submarine company - the sustainer of Australia's conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines in the AUKUS partnership. To deliver on this new and exciting work, we are seeking skilled trades individuals to undertake long-term, world-leading training in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S.
Placements are due to commence in March 2026 and will be between 18 - 24 months in duration.
Responsibilities
In the role of Trade Superintendent, your responsibilities are:
Managing day-to-day activities and workflow within their assigned zone.
Supervising personnel, coordinating tasks, and ensuring staff are equipped and trained for their roles.
Ensuring projects within the zone are completed on time and within budget.
Managing budgets and allocating resources effectively for the zone.
Ensuring that work adheres to all industry regulations and nuclear safety standards.
Identifying and resolving issues that arise within the zone.
Eligibility Criteria
The successful applicant must possess:
Australian Citizenship
An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance
Engineering qualification - either a Trade qualification or Engineering degree in a technical field (Mechanical, Fabrication, Electrical)
Extensive defence or heavy industry experience in a Production Management/Leadership role
Experience in trade and technical processes associated with the maintenance and overhaul of complex Navy vessels (desirable)
Knowledgeable on operational safety standards
Experience in managing budgets
Project management experience
Additional Details
During deployment, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training. This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.
At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines. Repatriation to WA is non-negotiable, so please consider this when applying.
Please note: This is a Civilian role and recruitment processes will differ from those undertaken in Active Service Defence recruitment.
