ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

As our AIC Industrialisation Lead, you will support the implementation and delivery of ASC’s Sovereign Supply Chain Development strategy and plan in order to increase Australian Industry Capability and participation in the ASC Supply Chain. This position will develop, deliver and support business processes through proactive engagement with key business stakeholders and the external market to ensure ASC continues to be the sovereign sustainer of choice for current and future submarine platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the implementation and integration of ASC’s Sovereign Supply Chain Development Strategy, ensuring alignment with broader policies, delivering approved actions, advising AIC leadership, and managing customer relationships related to AIC requirements.
  • Engage with industry and SMEs to build relationships, identify opportunities, and support initiatives that enhance Australian Industry Capability and SME participation in ASC’s supply chain.
  • Collaborate with procurement teams to align priorities with industry capabilities, review ICN EOI responses, identify non-core AIC opportunities, and contribute to building Australian industry capability intelligence, business cases, and development roadmaps.
  • Manage and deliver AIC plans in line with policy and contractual requirements, including supplier communication, proposal evaluation, monitoring execution, and developing standardized documentation for consistent outcomes.
  • Lead development and updates of ASC’s AIC plans, ensure compliance with governance and policy requirements, collaborate on risk mitigation, and report on AIC performance and contractual obligations.
  • Lead identified AIC related improvement initiatives and participation in other continuous improvement activities as needed.

About you

We are seeking an experienced professional with a minimum of 8-10 years in a senior Supply Chain role or equivalent business experience. The ideal candidate will bring expertise or significant exposure to areas such as procurement, contract management, supply chain operations, and industrial capability development. Exceptional negotiation, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills are required, along with the ability to resolve complex issues in collaboration with key stakeholders.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical and reporting skills, the ability to build and maintain effective relationships internally and externally, and a proactive approach to prioritising tasks and meeting deadlines. Knowledge of the Australian Defence industry, including government policies, initiatives, and contractual frameworks, is highly desirable. Additional strengths include enterprise risk management, contract management expertise, and a willingness to challenge conventional thinking while driving innovative solutions.
