About the Opportunity
We have an opportunity for an experienced Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Principal Technical Officer to play a key role in supporting the Collins Class Submarine Life Of Type Extension (LOTE) Project. Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager – Support System Design, this role will be responsible for the technical governance of the development and implementation of ILS Products and Activities for LOTE, including technical documentation and supply support.
You will provide technical expertise, leadership and guidance across multiple engineering disciplines and broader business areas, contributing to a newly established ILS team focused on the successful delivery of ILS outcomes for the LOTE program.
Responsibilities
- Technical task governance and process management for the development and implementation of ILS Products and Activities on LOTE, involving:
- Technical documentation, including technical manuals and maintenance instructions, and
- Supply support, including codification and provisioning.
- Management of ILS technical processes to ensure delivery of assigned tasks via expert application of technical governance and technical risk.
- Champion continuous improvement within ILS processes, tools and projects to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Support the technical integration of Logistics Engineering, Support System and other Transverse Function and Product teams with ILS Products and Activities.
- Provide ILS technical leadership and mentoring, with a focus on capability development and training.
- Govern technical compliance of ILS Products developed by the team.
- Coordinate and liaise effectively with ASC Subcontractors and Customer personnel to enable collaborative development and implementation of ILS Products and Activities.
- Support Project Management activities from a technical perspective including plans, estimates, budgets, schedules, EVM and risk management.
- Maintain processes and training in line with updates to standards and regulations.
- Ensure technical decisions made are safe, practical, and suitable for implementation on board the Collins Class Submarine or equivalent platform.
About you
- Minimum 10 Years ILS Experience within the Defence Industry or relevant technical industry.
- Advanced Diploma / Associate Degree of Engineering in relevant field or equivalent experience.
- Expert knowledge in the development of ILS Products, with a strong understanding of the full ILS Process.
- Ability to provide technical leadership and mentoring to a team or group, including experience working with remote team members.
- Understanding of, and experience with, management of baselines, Technical Performance Measurement (TPM) and technical risk.
- Experience in the use of ILS Defence Systems for Maintenance Management, Codification, Cataloguing and Supply.
- Eligibility to attain Technical Delegation within the ILS Discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to work through highly complex problems in a logical and ordered fashion, taking into account corporate as well as customer needs in determining the most appropriate way ahead.
- Excellent knowledge of technical system philosophy (design, operation, maintenance) and ability to work within engineering standards and associated system requirements.
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office products, specifically Word and Excel.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
