About the Opportunity

The Boilermaker is responsible for the construction, assembly, modification and repair of metal and composite components on Submarines. This role requires expertise in fabrication, cutting, assembling and shaping various components using techniques to meet industry and safety standards.

 

Responsibilities

  1. Fabricate, assemble and repair structural and mechanical components.
  2. Strong ability to work within tight tolerances.
  3. Interpret technical drawings and specifications to ensure fabricated items meet required standards.
  4. Perform quality checks on fabricated items.
  5. Collaborate with production Supervisors and Inspectors.

 

About you 

  1. Trade Qualification Cert 3 Fabrication/Welding.
  2. Experience working with procedures to ensure compliance.
  3. Previous shipbuilding experience highly desirable.
  4. Comfortable working in confined spaces.
  5. Proven ability to be flexible and an eagerness to learn and develop new skills.
  6. An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 Defence Clearance.
  7. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  8. High attention to detail.
  9. Maintain a strong safe and organised work environment.

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
