About the Opportunity

In this customer‑focused role, you will support internal stakeholders across multiple NDT methods by ensuring the quality, consistency and compliance of inspection activities. You’ll review NDT work, procedures and processes, liaise with engineering authorities, and help maintain departmental capability and efficiency.

Working both autonomously and collaboratively, you’ll mentor NDT technicians, uphold independence in all quality inspection activities, and drive improvements in efficiency and effectiveness. You’ll also ensure documentation meets NATA requirements or recognised good practice for non‑accredited testing.

This position additionally provides key support to the Team Lead, acting as 2IC during peak periods and in their absence.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with any reasonable instruction given to you by the person conducting a business or undertaking.

  • In the performance of duties, maintain knowledge of and compliance with all CMS policies, procedures and processes associated with your role and any subordinate roles.
  • Meet schedule deadlines as agreed with Project team Production and Engineering.
  • Complete and enter inspection data into the relevant corporate systems.
  • Be accountable for the accuracy of work completed and the formalization of this through signed reports/documentation.
  • To determine the most appropriate survey/inspection method when not explicitly identified by precedent or peer.
  • Determine whether results from inspections/surveys comply with specified requirements and whether additional inspection or survey may be required to confirm results

About you 

  • Relevant Trade or tertiary certificate
  • Extensive experience in a major engineering production projects and manufacturing environment.
  • AINDT Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification.
  • Minimum AINDT Level 2 (or equivalent) qualifications in Radiography, Magnetic Particle and Dye Penetrant test methods.
  • Supervisory experience of NDT technicians and trainees.
  • WA EPA License to operate Ionising Radiation Apparatus, and license to handle Radioactive Substances
  • Confined Space Entry Permit.
  • Understanding of NATA laboratory accreditation requirements.
  • Effectively communicate internally and externally including-: Production and engineering management on the capabilities of NDT, both written and verbally with NDT technicians and trainees and internal customers (production and engineering) on all NDT processes.
  • Ability to interface with stakeholders at all levels.

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
