ASC is Australia’s submarine company. About the Opportunity

As a Community Engagement Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining positive relationships between ASC and local communities, including Aboriginal Elders, Leaders and organisations, key industry & local government stakeholders, and the public. Your work will help build understanding and support for ASC’s submarine projects, contributing to the achievement of social licence.

This is a dynamic opportunity to implement community engagement strategies, plan and deliver events, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders to ensure ASC’s projects are understood and supported. This position is deeply focused on working collaboratively with industry partners to ensure alignment and shared responsibility for delivering positive social outcomes.

As we approach the end of year, we anticipate the successful candidate will commence February 2026.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver ASC’s Community Engagement Plan and support the Corporate Social Responsibility strategy.
  • Organise and deliver community engagement events, meetings, forums, and presentations.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, Aboriginal Elders and Leaders, and local community organisations.
  • Develop and distribute communication materials for internal and external channels.
  • Manage community enquiries and complaints, ensuring timely and professional responses.
  • Collect and analyse feedback to inform decision-making and prepare reports on engagement activities.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement innovative approaches to enhance community relations.

 

About You

  • Tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder and community engagement.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with limited direction.
  • Proven ability to build interpersonal relationships internally and externally.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
