About the Opportunity

The Quality Engineer – Technical Support Network (QE-TSN) will play a key role within the Assurance, Governance & Investigation team, operating under the guidance of the Assurance and Governance Business & Investigation Manager.

In this position, you will assess ASC’s Technical Support Agencies to ensure they maintain the engineering capability required to support Australia’s Collins Class Submarine (CCSM) program. Your responsibilities will also include leading Product Safety investigations, preparing detailed reports and clearly communicating findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders across ASC and associated agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Assess ASC’s Technical Support Agencies to ensure engineering capability and compliance for Collins Class Submarine sustainment
  • Utilise ICAM techniques to conduct Product Safety Investigations
  • Communicate investigation outcomes effectively to stakeholders across all levels
  • Maintain Product Safety reports, databases, and Business Improvement Requests
  • Collaborate with national and international stakeholders, maintain objectivity under conflicting views, and develop reasoned arguments to support decisions
  • Develop deep knowledge of Product Safety processes and procedures, and demonstrate understanding of WHS&E and Quality Management Systems

About you 

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, manufacturing, or a related field)
  • 3+ years of experience in supplier quality or quality engineering.
  • Proficiency in quality tools (FMEA, PPAP, APQP, SPC, 8D).
  • Strong understanding of engineering management systems and supplier technical capability.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven experience in supplier engagement in a complex engineering environment
  • Previous experience relating to the conduct of audit and/or technical investigations
  • Familiar with or trained ICAM Investigator or similar qualifications

 Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
