ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

As our new Configuration Change Officer, you’ll play a key role in maintaining the configuration baseline of the Collins Class Submarines and supporting ASC’s Life of Type Extension (LOTE) program. Reporting to the Configuration Change Lead, you’ll process configuration management activities that directly support critical sustainment milestones.

This is a hands-on role with real influence, offering exposure to submarine systems, engineering documentation, and Defence-grade configuration processes.

  • Preparing audit packs and capturing audit findings on databases.
  • Undertake Physical Configuration Audits (PCA).
  • Collaborate with internal teams and stakeholders to deliver high-quality outputs on time.
  • Identify anomalies and interpret technical documentation related to engineering changes.
  • Participate in audits and escalate issues with proposed solutions.
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing and continuous improvement across the CM team.

About You

  • Experience in configuration management or quality management, ideally having performed PCA or quality control activities within a Defence or technical environment.
  • Comfortable working with engineering documentation, drawings and change control processes.
  • Experience working on Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple tasks under direction.
  • Excellent communicator with a collaborative mindset.
  • Physically fit to work in submarine environments (e.g. climbing ladders, confined spaces).
