About the Opportunity

We are seeking a versatile and safety-focused Rigger/Scaffolder/Crane/Forklift and Operator to join our team on a dynamic project. This role requires a multi-skilled individual capable of performing rigging, scaffolding, and operating cranes and forklifts in a high-paced industrial environment.

Conducting work on a Collins Class Submarine has several challenges - confined space, incompatible operations, and difficult working positions all of which need careful attention to detail when conducting tasks.

 

Responsibilities

This position consists of major work components including:

  • Operator duties on-board CCSM and in Workshop with the following qualifications and experience: Forklift, Overhead Crane, Mobile Crane, Dogging, Rigging, Scaffolding, Rigging equipment and Test and Tag.
  • Ability to work in restricted confined space.
  • Perform rigging tasks including lifting, moving, and securing loads.
  • Erect, modify, and dismantle scaffolding structures safely and efficiently.
  • Operate cranes and forklifts in accordance with site procedures and safety standards.
  • Conduct pre-start checks and routine maintenance of equipment.
  • Collaborate with other trades and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and contribute to a positive safety culture.
  • Experienced Hot Work and Confined space permit control procedures.
  • Work within a team environment and work to high standards.

 

About you 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High Risk Work Licences: RB, RI, RA, SB, SI, SA, CN, C1/C6, LF (as applicable).
  • Proven experience in rigging, scaffolding, and operating cranes/forklifts.
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and hazard management.
  • Ability to work in a team and follow instructions.
  • Physically fit and able to work in challenging conditions. 

Desirable

  • Additional tickets or qualifications (e.g. EWP, Working at Heights, Confined Space).
  • Experience in shutdowns or construction projects.

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
