About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Design Technologies Team Lead, based in Osborne SA, your skills and knowledge in engineering processes, engineering and design software, software development and IT systems will enable you to deliver solutions-focused support, development, and configuration for multiple commercial and in-house developed engineering and design tools. This full-time, permanent role is undertaken in a dynamic and complex environment where customer service and stakeholder engagement are paramount, and your ability to work independently and collaborate with other teams to deliver successful outcomes is essential.
Responsibilities
- Provide solutions-focused support, development, and configuration for multiple commercial and in-house developed engineering and design tools while managing multiple priorities and leveraging available technologies
- Provide all levels of user support for the engineering and design tool capabilities provided by the team, such as engineering design, modelling, and analysis tools, including databases and infrastructure
- Undertake effective customer and stakeholder engagement for all tasks with the aim to enhance business outcomes and build relationships
- Administer and support a classified engineering and design network
- Support digital tool licensing systems
- Collaborate with the corporate IT team to achieve assigned objectives
- Continuously improve engineering and design tool support processes and procedures
- Contribute to team building, mentoring, and informal training activities within the team
- Engage and communicate effectively with a wide variety of team members throughout the organisation
- Maintain professional relationships with and coordinate support from external application/service providers
About you
- Degree in Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science or an equivalent qualification
- Experience using, supporting, and configuring 2D and 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) methods and tools, such as AVEVA, Autodesk, PTC, or similar
- Experience using, supporting, and configuring multiple engineering, analysis / simulation methods and tools, such as FEA, CFD, MBSE, RAM, Acoustics/Signal analysis, or similar
- Familiarity with PLM (Product Lifecycle Management), PDM (Product Data Management), and/or Document Management methods and tools, such as Dassault Systemes, Autodesk, PTC or similar
- Familiarity with enterprise technologies and processes including infrastructure hardware and applications is desirable
- Experience with SQL database methods and tools such as Microsoft, Oracle, or similar
- Experience with scripting / programming languages such as PowerShell, C#, .NET, VBA
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build relationships with multiple stakeholders
- Excellent communications skills with the ability to work autonomously and within a team
- Excellent problem solving and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Understanding of Defence systems engineering standards and regulations (preferably Defence Seaworthiness) will be highly regarded
You’re an ideal candidate for this role if you are one of the following:
- An engineer with demonstrated experience in effectively utilising and customising engineering design, modelling and analysis software applications, demonstrated project management experience, IT infrastructure knowledge, and someone who can develop production-level code/scripts and understands data structures
- A software developer, applications/infrastructure engineer, IT systems/support engineer or database engineer with demonstrated project management experience who is interested in undertaking development, support, and project leadership tasks for engineering design, modelling and analysis software applications and defence/manufacturing enterprise-level software
- A business analyst with strong software development, engineering skills, and IT infrastructure knowledge who is interested in undertaking development, support and project leadership tasks for engineering design, modelling and analysis software applications and defence/manufacturing enterprise-level software
Eligibility
This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
