About the Engineering Work Package Manager Opportunities
The Engineering Work Package Manager roles will support the Nuclear Integrated Project Team (IPT) within the Build Program. They will be part of a wider team that will Govern, Assure and Support Nuclear Safety, Security and Safeguards across the AUKUS program on behalf of the Shipbuilder. They will liaise with all aspects of the program (Engineering, Build, Infrastructure, Workforce, Establishment etc to ensure a Nuclear Mindset is achieved. They will ensure (in their area of scope) that the shipbuilder will be ‘licensable’ under the ANNPSR regulations.
The Engineering Work Package Manager roles are required to work in a complex and evolving regulatory environment. The roles are responsible for leading the engagement of multiple internal and external stakeholders, to ensure success through the various phases of the SSN-AUKUS build program. Engagement with regulators, international partners and national peers is required to demonstrate the Nuclear Structures, Systems and Components are compliant with safety, safeguards, and security needs throughout the project lifecycle. This is a complex challenge that requires adaptability and tenacity in a highly regulated environment.
Multiple Roles exist within the Team which covers a multitude of nuclear engineering areas at ASC and utilises the skills of an experienced Engineer. Team Specifics and roles could include:
Nuclear Capability Development- the creation of an enduring Engineering team capable of supporting the Nuclear Workforce and specifying nuclear skills, training and education to build and maintain the ‘Nuclear Baseline’; an organisational design baseline aimed to achieve Nuclear safety. Working with People and Culture to achieve organisational design and alignment and change control.
Nuclear Regulations & Licensing Strategy- to obtain evidence to demonstrate that ASC Engineering process, procedures and deliverables meets the safety and quality requirements of the regulator. Responsible for the coordination and creation of ASC’s licensing application, and supporting strategy, through engagement with relevant regulatory bodies (ARPANSA, ANNPSR) and other key stakeholders within the submarine build enterprise (ASA, ANI, BAE).
Safety Management Plan / Prospectus- for the SSN-AUKUS build program - comprehensive development of the framework for the SSN-AUKUS build program nuclear safety arrangements, including but not limited to; a Safety Management Charter (Company nuclear safety policy), Safety Management Prospectus (organisational focus) and Safety Management System (process focus), and Nuclear Safety Management Plan (procedure and evidence focus).
Additionally, these roles will assist in adopting Nuclear Mindset Principles within wider ASC and the wider enterprise.
Note: This role is established early in ASCs Nuclear pathway. Therefore, this role will change with the evolving needs of the business.

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
