You’ll report to the Facilities Design Authority Manager and be accountable for establishing and maintaining ASC’s engineering and technical guardrails in line with relevant standards and legislation. Your engineering expertise and experience, rapidly incorporated into ASC documentation, will ensure safety and productivity at ASC. Your work will support Australia’s nuclear and conventional submarines across sustainment and type-extension programs, including the supporting facilities, equipment and infrastructure. You will perform activities strongly aligned with ASC’s Strategy and directly assists ASC to meet relevant contractual deliverables.  

As a Facilities Design Requirements Engineer at ASC you will build strong stakeholder relationships and use them to informally influence positive change across the organisation. You will work as part of a team to deliver attainable yet challenging performance targets across several ASC locations. Your role will have some travel to work with your stakeholders, conduct site-based activities and deliver investigations. Your work will allow ASC to minimise threats and maximise opportunities, supporting controls on both the submarine and supporting infrastructure. 

This unique opportunity will give you a strategic perspective of the entire business. You’ll need to consider a wide range of longer-term issues, opportunities, and risks to ensure ongoing business success. Additionally, you will support several key external relationships, such as the government and various regulators, as well as ensuring ASC meets the associated technical regulations and compliance requirements.  

 Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development, improvement and execution of ASC’s technical governance policies and frameworks.
  • Identify and manage stakeholder requirements, standards and regulations that influence facilities engineering.
  • Support risk management by identifying technical governance risks and developing proactive mitigation initiatives.
  • Provide engineering assurance across facilities, infrastructure and supporting equipment.
  • Collaborate across ASC to ensure technical frameworks are understood, adopted and continuously improved.
  • Support transparent and disciplined governance to help ASC make informed, compliant and safe decisions.

About You

You will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (or equivalent experience).
  • 10+ years’ engineering experience in high‑risk, regulated industries.
  • Experience developing or enhancing engineering governance documentation.
  • Deep understanding of standards, regulatory frameworks and high‑risk infrastructure.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and influence across diverse stakeholder groups.
