ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

The Production Facility Delivery Manager will lead the mobilisation, operational readiness, and transition of a newly delivered submarine‑construction facility into production‑ready operations establishment within a highly regulated Defence environment. This role oversees production integration, equipment commissioning, systems and security compliance, and the establishment of progressive capability to support demonstration, prototyping, and future rate production for the SSN‑AUKUS program.

This role will play a key role in the establishment of the Australian Shipbuilder (joint venture between ASC and BAE), that will eventually build Australia’s SSN-AUKUS submarines.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver fully operational facilities, industrial services, and commissioned production equipment ready to support demonstration, prototyping, and early production.
  • Establish and maintain operational procedures covering facility access, industrial systems, emergency response, and workforce competency.
  • Achieve and maintain security accreditation across physical infrastructure, ICT/OT systems, and export‑controlled environments.
  • Enable production‑ready zones with compliant layouts, material flows, tooling, storage systems, and integrated utilities and digital systems.
  • Lead capability proving and readiness activities, including commissioning, calibration, configuration audits, and production trial evidence.
  • Identify, manage, and reduce facility‑related risks while reporting performance across safety, readiness, capability, and compliance metrics during production activities.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience in managing complex industrial or defence-related facilities.
  • Strong understanding of production environments, particularly in prototyping or demonstration phases.
  • Ability to coordinate multi-disciplinary teams and contractors.
  • Familiarity with safety, compliance, and regulatory frameworks in high-security environments.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.

A degree of flexibility is required in working hours, to support engagements with colleagues in other time zones. This role may also require periodic or regular overseas travel.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance (Negative Vetting Level 1). Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
