ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

About the Opportunity

The Network Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, operation and protection of secure and resilient network infrastructure to support the SSN-AUKUS program. This includes working with internal and external stakeholders to ensure network systems meet operational, security, and performance requirements.

Some flexibility around working hours is required as you will be partnering with others in different time zones and occasional travel may be undertaken.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, implementing, configuring and maintaining secure cloud and on-premises data centre networks technologies
  • Implementing and maintaining secure business connectivity services ISP circuits, VPN and direct cloud connects
  • Monitoring network health, capacity planning, routine testing, QoS, and performance tuning
  • Maintaining updates, patches, vulnerability remediation and lifecycle management in accordance with the ICT change process and guidelines
  • Troubleshooting and incident response and restoration of services
  • Preparing and executing documented network changes, risk assessments and rollback plans
  • Maintaining network diagrams, configurations, SOPs and runbooks

About you 

  • Demonstrated experience in enterprise Network Engineering roles
  • Strong knowledge and experience with network protocols, firewalls, routing, switching, network security, cloud networking, WI-FI and automation
  • Experience with network monitoring, performance, logging and diagnostic tools
  • Confident and capable in assessing and managing cyber risks and incident management
  • Prior experience working in a defence and/or highly regulated environment would be advantageous

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications, this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology and applicants holding the nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
