About the Opportunity

The Infrastructure Engineer delivers technical expertise and support across engineering disciplines, as well as to teams outside the Design and Engineering function. This role requires ensuring that all technical decisions are safe, practical, and appropriate for implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engineering tasks with minimal supervision, ensuring outcomes meet scope, schedule, cost, and quality requirements.
  • Work closely with architects and project teams to assist in infrastructure design activities, ensuring solutions are practical, scalable and supportable.
  • Manage and execute project work, including small multi-discipline or larger single-discipline tasks, aligned to WBS, resource planning, and earned value reporting.
  • Perform and oversee engineering activities such as calculations, analysis, design, modelling, and preparation/review of technical documentation.
  • Provide technical direction across the full design lifecycle, including review, design assurance and approval of engineering artefacts and ensuring alignment with standards and procedures.
  • Engage with stakeholders (internal & external) to translate operational needs into infrastructure solutions.
  • Provide expert technical advice and communicate decisions clearly, ensuring alignment with organisational goals, governance, and professional engineering standards.

About you

  • Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical or related discipline with exposure to ICT and security systems and Eligible for Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or equivalent status.
  • Experience working in the industrial manufacturing industry on technical specifications ( e.g clean rooms, cranes) and/or compliance (GMP, ISO & Australian Standards)
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Specific experience creating technical & functional infrastructure requirements within the Defence Shipbuilding Industry will be highly regarded.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement with the ability to translate business needs into technical outcomes, with experience working in structured delivery environments.
  • Experience in project managing infrastructure/equipment design, procurement, manufacturing, installation, and commissioning.
  • Highly organised with strong commercial awareness, experienced across project and systems engineering (scope, schedule, cost, risk, integration, and sustainment lifecycles) and able to recover schedule or budget challenges.

A degree of flexibility is required in working hours, to support engagements with colleagues in other time zones. This role may also require periodic or regular overseas travel.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
