ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. About the Opportunity

As a Learning and Development Specialist, you’ll design, develop, and continuously improve learning solutions that build capability across ASC. You will join a team delivering work that underpins critical defence capability. This role contributes to outcomes that matter, supporting people, systems, and operations to perform at their best.

You will work alongside experienced professionals in a technically complex, high‑accountability environment where outcomes matter. Partnering closely with leaders and teams, you will translate capability needs into practical development activities that improve performance. This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys combining planning with delivery and takes pride in building capability and supporting a positive learning culture.

Responsibilities

  • Design & develop L&D initiatives
  • Conduct training needs analysis and recommend fit‑for‑purpose learning solutions.
  • Facilitate leadership, team, and employee development programs.
  • Support onboarding, induction, coaching, mentoring, and early careers learning programs.
  • Build trusted relationships with leaders and stakeholders across multiple sites.
  • Coordinate training delivery, evaluate effectiveness, and manage learning data and systems.
  • Apply contemporary learning practices to improve capability and performance outcomes.

 

About You

  • Qualification in Training and Assessment
  • Demonstrated experience in learning and development within a complex or technical environment.
  • Strong facilitation and program design capability, with a practical, delivery focused approach.
  • Ability to engage credibly with senior leaders and operational teams.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship building skills.
  • Experience using learning systems and interpreting data to improve outcomes.
  • A collaborative mindset and a strong customer focus.

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
