ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Nuclear Engineer - Facilities will provide SME expertise and guidance to those designing, constructing and commissioning Nuclear Sites and the subsequent nuclear baseline to

assure safe and effective SSN nuclear sustainment, the business’ social licence and the health and safety of its workforce and the general public.

 

Additionally, the Nuclear Engineer - Facilities will support NCD in the development of management arrangement processes and procedures that support nuclear facility compliance

against Australian regulatory conditions and licencing/authorisation pre-requisites. The Nuclear Engineer - Facilities will be responsible for the creation of compliant documentation

that satisfies the requirements of regulation and licencing or, as appropriate, co-ordinate and manage the development of requisite documentation by internal Subject Matter Experts

(SMEs) or external specialists and sub-contractors.

 

The Nuclear Engineer - Facilities will predominately support Nuclear Facility Management Arrangements and ongoing functional requirements advice to the customer/designer,

however they will provide expertise into ASC, to ensure all applicable regulatory conditions are understood, covered under procedure and compliant.

They will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support ASCs evolution into an intelligent operator and customer through the ongoing evaluation of

facility requirements, regulation and SSN maintenance needs.

 

Note: This role is established early in ASCs Nuclear pathway. Therefore, this role will likely change with the evolving needs of the business.


ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

· Tertiary qualifications in Facilities Engineering, Safety, Nuclear or similar

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

· 7+ years’ experience within the naval or civil nuclear facility environment.

· Specific understanding and experience of Nuclear Facilities and associated support needs including maintenance.

· Specific experience working with Nuclear regulation and licensing will be highly regarded;

· Specific experience or comprehensive understanding of Nuclear Safeguards would be an advantage and highly regarded

· Experience managing inter-organisational stakeholders will be highly regarded;

· Experience coordinating technical personnel and SMEs (Internal/external) in complex and changing environments.

· Ability to hold and maintain an Australian NEGATIVE VETTING Level 1 (NV1) Security Clearance, and ITAR;

· Proficiency managing regulatory documentation and maintaining compliance records

 

***This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a Baseline/NV1/NV2 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
