About the Opportunity

Join the Multi-Class Sustainment team and play a pivotal role in supporting the Collins Class Submarine Life of Type Extension (LOTE) Program. In this position, you will lead strategic procurement activities that directly influence program success and value-for-money outcomes. Working in a complex, high-stakes environment, you’ll collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and strategic suppliers to deliver sourcing strategies, manage critical contracts, and ensure timely delivery of goods and services. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to one of Australia’s most significant naval sustainment programs.

 

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver strategic procurement and category strategies to support Collins Class LOTE objectives.
  • Lead sourcing activities—including competitive and sole‑source processes—to identify preferred suppliers and manage negotiation outcomes.
  • Provide governance and oversight to ensure supplier performance aligns with contractual requirements and project deliverables.
  • Prepare and execute negotiation plans, engaging project and technical SMEs to drive optimal commercial outcomes.
  • Manage change requests, contractual variations, and escalation pathways to resolve issues promptly.
  • Partner with procurement and project leadership to ensure alignment on strategy, progress, risks, and commercial decisions.
  • Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure procurement frameworks are understood and applied consistently.

 

About you

  • Minimum of 10 years demonstrated experience in a relevant Supply Chain role in a defence, manufacturing, or resource environment. ASDEFCON experience is highly regarded.
  • In-depth knowledge of category management, strategic sourcing, contract management and contracting principles and best practices.
  • Proven track record of delivering significant cost savings and other business value through the development and implementation of sourcing strategy and plans.
  • Possesses project management skills to manage procurement and contract management activities to agreed timelines and budget restraints.
  • Significant knowledge of contractual terms and conditions to mitigate legal risk.
  • Knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting and business case development.
  • Skilled in negotiating and managing high-value and complex contracts.
  • Strong understanding of contract terms, risk management and procurement best practices.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Confident managing competing priorities in a complex, project-driven environment.

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance up to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
