About the Opportunity

The Production Planning and Control Manager will provide strategic leadership in defining the capability, processes and resource structure to support complex Build Preparation activities. They will drive the development of advanced planning, scheduling, production control and performance management systems, alongside capacity modelling for the Osborne Nuclear Powered Submarine Construction Yard. The role will also build and manage a high‑performing team and foster strong collaboration across delivery partners, government stakeholders and integrated project teams.

 

Responsibilities

  • Define the strategic pathway and operating framework for the Production Planning and Control capability.
  • Develop advanced planning, scheduling, production control and performance management systems to enable confident build preparation decisions.
  • Establish and maintain processes, procedures and governance required for the capability’s effective operation.
  • Build capacity planning models to support the Osborne Nuclear Powered Submarine Construction Yard.
  • Lead, mentor and grow a high‑performing Production Planning and Control team.
  • Collaborate with delivery partners, subcontractors and government stakeholders to ensure alignment and integration.
  • Identify and manage program‑level risks, interdependencies and resource requirements.
  • Support program governance through high‑quality reporting, leadership briefings and readiness review artefacts.

About you

  • High level of competence in Production Planning is essential, including but not limited to scheduling, work package generation, material planning and capacity planning.
  • High level of competence in Production Control is essential, including but not limited to tracking of work in progress tracking and performance monitoring (production norms).
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in planning and/or project management.
  • Proficiency with program management tools such as Primavera P6, EVMS (Deltek/Cobra) and ERP/MRP systems (SAP/IFS).
  • Understanding of modern submarine construction techniques.
  • Ability to operate autonomously in a complex, highly regulated environment.
  • Proven capability in defining, developing and leading high‑performing teams.
  • Strong writing, time‑management and stakeholder relationship skills.

A degree of flexibility is required in working hours, to support engagements with colleagues in other time zones. This role may also require periodic or regular overseas travel.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance (Negative Vetting Level 1). Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
