To deliver on this new and exciting work, we are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to undertake long-term, world-leading training in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S.

Placements are available in August 2026 and will be approximately 18 months in duration.
Responsibilities
This role is ideally suited to an experienced electrical inspector or an experienced electrician looking to step up in their career.
As an Electrical Inspector, your responsibilities include:
Verifying electrical systems and components being built to support the reactor plant of the Naval Nuclear Submarine Fleet, meet all applicable military specification requirements.
Perform visual and wiring schematic inspections on a variety of complex components, assemblies, and systems.
Conduct in-process inspections at various checkpoints during the removal, disassembly, repair, assembly, and installation of electrical components/equipment to ensure conformance to electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and similar references.
Witness shop and shipboard testing to verify and document component equipment and system electrical continuity and resistance testing and satisfactorily operational testing.
Eligibility Criteria
The successful applicant must possess:
Australian Citizenship
A minimum Australia credited Cert III in Electrotechnology or equivalent
Valid unrestricted WA Electrical License (Mandatory)
Minimum 5 years' experience in electrical trade
Experience as an Electrical Inspector or in quality control (desirable)
Experience within the defence industry (desirable)
Additional Details
During deployment, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training. This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.
At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines at HMAS Stirling. Repatriation to WA is non-negotiable, so please consider this when applying.
Please note: This is a Civilian role and recruitment processes will differ from those undertaken in Active Service Defence recruitment.
