ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a Configuration Change Officer to support the SSN‑AUKUS Submarine Construction Yard (SCY) program. Reporting to the SCY Configuration & Assurance Manager, this role plays a critical part in establishing and maintaining configuration management frameworks, systems, and records. You will work at the centre of a major national program, helping to ensure configuration integrity, compliance, and quality outcomes as Australia’s future submarine capability is built.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, maintenance, and execution of configuration management processes and systems
  • Administer configuration data, technical documentation, and configuration databases
  • Manage document control activities, including baseline tracking and configuration status accounting
  • Support the implementation and coordination of configuration change management processes
  • Ensure configuration records are accurate, accessible, and compliant with ASC and Defence standards
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, project, and assurance teams across the SCY program
  • Contribute to the establishment and maturity of the Australian Shipbuilder joint venture environment

About you

  • Certificate or Diploma in Engineering Administration, Configuration Management, or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in configuration management or technical document control roles
  • Familiarity with recognised configuration management standards (e.g. EIA‑649)
  • Experience working with document control systems and configuration databases
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively
  • Confident communicator who can work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
