About the Opportunity

Join ASC in a pivotal role as Security Advisor – Personnel Security, ensuring our workforce meets the stringent security requirements of the SSN-AUKUS program. Reporting to the Team Lead – Security Governance & Assurance, you’ll manage vetting processes, DISP compliance obligations, ongoing employment suitability, develop and deliver awareness briefings and conduct personnel risk assessments to safeguard national security interests. This dynamic position offers the chance to influence security practices during a period of significant organisational transformation.

Additionally, this role may require flexible working hours and periodic international travel.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee end-to-end AGSVA clearance processes, including initiation, monitoring, and renewals.
  • Oversee a centralised security clearance register and provide status reporting to leadership.
  • Design and deliver security awareness programs, onboarding briefings, and targeted training.
  • Ensure compliance with DISP and ASA personnel security requirements.
  • Conduct personnel risk assessments and implement insider threat mitigation strategies.
  • Support pre-employment suitability checks and high-risk offboarding processes.
  • Prepare reports, maintain compliance documentation, and contribute to audits and governance forums.

About you 

  • Tertiary qualification in Security, Risk Management, HR, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in personnel security or vetting roles.
  • Strong knowledge of AGSVA processes, DISP requirements, and Defence security frameworks.
  • Skilled in managing clearance workflows and conducting risk assessments.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication abilities.
  • Eligible for AGSVA Negative Vetting Level 2 and compliance with ITAR regulations.
  • Must have or be able to complete the Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) Security Officer Course.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance up to an NV2 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
