ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

This role represents a rare opportunity to work on the pioneering SSN AUKUS Build Program, delivering an essential sovereign capability for Australia. This role will play a key role in the establishment of the Australian Shipbuilder (joint venture between ASC and BAE), that will eventually build Australia’s SSN-AUKUS submarines.

The Senior Bid Coordinator will collaborate with key stakeholders (internal and external) to coordinate submissions aligned to ASC’s strategic goals within the SSN AUKUS Program. This role will support bid management by coordinating bid activities in accordance with an agreed bid schedule, ensuring all inputs are received and the bid is delivered on time.

Responsibilities

  • Support to the Bid Manager in the development and delivery of bidding framework to support SSN AUKUS requirements in a timely manner.
  • Management of bid schedules in accordance with ASC’s process.
  • Undertake deliverables analysis and provide advice to the Bid Manager.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders (both internal and external) to deliver comprehensive submissions aligned to bid schedules and customer requirements.
  • Support the development of submission debriefs, lessons learnt and gather critical feedback for continuous improvement.
  • Build and manage internal and external relationships.
  • Continuous support to and engagement of SSN AUKUS personnel in bid process ensuring governance and compliance standards are maintained.
  • Coordinate the submission process from initiation to delivery.
  • Proactively identify processes within the department that would benefit from improvements and recommend the appropriate action to the Bid Manager.
  • Assist the broader Program and Commercial teams to improve processes and technology to gain efficiencies for both the department and the wider business.

Please note: Availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone) may be required. Periodic domestic and international travel may also be required on an ad hoc basis.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Project Management desirable.
  • Ability to collaborate with key stakeholders to develop comprehensive submissions aligned to ASC’s strategic goals in support of the Bid Manager.
  • Experience in the management and implementation of schedules and meeting critical timelines.

  • Innovation in bid submission.
  • Has, or has the ability to attain, Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV1).

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
