ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. About the Opportunity

Join ASC as a Senior Commercial Advisor supporting the SSN-AUKUS Build Program. In this key role, you’ll work closely with Commercial Manager to manage and support complex contracts and commercial relationships. You’ll help drive commercial outcomes across multiple work streams, ensuring compliance with business and contractual obligations.

Responsibilities

  • Support negotiations, development, and implementation of commercial agreements
  • Provide sound commercial advice aligned with ASC’s strategic goals
  • Ensure obligations under key contracts, including SSN-AUKUS Build agreements, are met
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including international partners
  • Assist in the preparation of commercial documentation, reports, and risk assessments
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of commercial processes and governance

About you 

  • Tertiary qualifications from an accredited tertiary institution in law, commerce, business management or related discipline or equivalent experience in a complex commercial setting.
  • A minimum of 8 years post graduate experience in a commercial, legal or business advisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and developing complex contracts including resolution of complex issues to achieve a positive commercially focused outcome.
  • Demonstrated experience in drafting agreements and managing commercial risk.
  • The ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with others.
  • Autonomous, goal directed and capable of managing multiple priorities with limited direction.
  • Proficient in both written and verbal communication and possess excellent negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Capable of building strong business relationships.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
