About the Opportunity

The Senior Project Manager plays a critical role in delivering digital, technology and business solutions that support the establishment and operation of the Australian Shipbuilder (a joint venture between ASC and BAE Systems) for the SSN-AUKUS submarine program.

Some flexibility around working hours is required as you will be partnering with others in different time zones and occasional travel may be undertaken.

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex, competing high priority projects across the project delivery lifecycle on time, cost and scope.
  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, costs and dependencies.
  • Lead and motivate cross functional teams including Solution Architects, Business Analysts, Process Modellers, Technical Specialists and Change Managers, among others, so that all stakeholders are aligned towards agreed outcomes that met design, budget and fit-for-purpose outcomes.
  • Managing third parties and their agreed contract deliverables.
  • Ensure project governance, quality assurance and compliance.
  • Capture and manage project risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, track milestones and proactively control the project to manage deviations from the plan.
  • Support continuous improvement activities

 About you 

  • Hold a tertiary qualification in Project Management, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive project management experience in large and complex environments, across multiple workstreams and stakeholder groups.
  • Proven track record in successfully delivering a broad range of major enterprise IT projects and business initiatives.
  • Possess an expert-level understanding of project management methodologies such as Waterfall, Agile/Scrum, among others.
  • Advanced skills with project management tools such as MS Project, Primavera, Jira or similar.
  • Proficiency in project planning, scheduling, budget, risk, and change management.
  • Superior leadership skills with the ability to build and develop high performing teams
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in business case development and contract management.
  • Flexible and adaptable to work within a dynamic environment where you may need to adjust course at short notice without compromising project outcomes.
  • Recognised Project Management certification (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, AgilePM).

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
