An exciting career awaits you at ASC, Australia's submarine company - the sustainer of Australia's conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines in the AUKUS partnership. As part of this exciting new initiative, we are seeking skilled individuals to undertake long-term, world leading training at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S.
Immediate opportunities are available for capable leaders to support and mentor ASC employees participating in this globally recognised training.
Placements are due to commence in September 2026 and will be between 18 – 24 months in duration.
Responsibilities
As a Zone Manager/Superintendent, you will:
Manage day-to-day activities and workflow within an assigned submarine section/zone
Supervise personnel, coordinating tasks, and ensuring staff are equipped and trained for their roles
Plan and monitor project activities within the zone to optimise efficiency, productivity, and delivery outcomes
Manage staff performance and capability within the zone, including coaching, development, and adherence to procedural and governance requirements
Ensure projects within the zone are completed on time and within budget
Manage budgets and allocating resources effectively for the zone
Ensure that work adheres to all industry regulations and nuclear safety standards
Identify and resolve issues that arise within the zone
Eligibility Criteria
The successful applicant must possess:
Engineering qualification, either a recognised trade qualification or an engineering degree in a relevant technical discipline (Mechanical, Fabrication, or Electrical)
Extensive experience in defence or heavy industry environments, with demonstrated capability in production management or leadership roles
Experience with trade and technical processes associated with the maintenance and overhaul of complex naval vessels (desirable)
Strong knowledge of operational safety standards and compliance requirements
Proven experience managing budgets and supporting cost control within production or operational environments
Australian Citizenship
An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance
Additional Details
At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines.
Repatriation to WA is non-negotiable, so please consider this when applying.
Please note: This is a Civilian role and recruitment processes will differ from those undertaken in Active Service Defence recruitment.
