About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a skilled LOTE Systems Safety Engineering Manager to lead the Life Of Type Extension (LOTE) Safety Program, ensuring compliance and safety of the design. Reporting to the CCSM Technical Director, you’ll manage a team of Safety Engineers, oversee hazard identification and risk mitigation, and deliver the program on time and within budget. This role is pivotal in driving safety excellence and continuous improvement across ASC’s engineering practices.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of Safety Engineers, providing technical guidance and professional development.
  • Act as Control Account Manager (CAM) for the LOTE Safety Program, ensuring delivery to cost and schedule.
  • Maintain and execute the LOTE System Safety Program Plan, including oversight of the Safety Case.
  • Chair the LOTE System Safety Working Group (SSWG) and engage with key stakeholders, including Commonwealth counterparts.
  • Communicate emergent safety issues to senior leadership and maintain visibility across the program.
  • Monitor industry trends and implement lessons learned to continuously improve safety engineering practices.

About you 

  • Hold a relevant engineering qualification (Degree or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience in systems safety engineering within complex projects such as defence, shipbuilding, or heavy industry.
  • Strong understanding of hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety case development.
  • Proven ability to lead technical teams, manage budgets and schedules, and influence stakeholders.
  • Skilled in risk management frameworks and familiar with regulatory compliance requirements.
  • A strategic thinker with a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.

Eligibility 

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
