ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

Are you from a purchasing, procurement, supply chain, stores or logistics background and looking for a role where your work has real purpose?ASC is seeking an S&TE Officer to join our Supply team in Henderson, WA. This is a highly interactive, operational role that sits at the heart of keeping our trade workforce equipped, productive and supported on major defence programs. Support & Tools Equipment (S&TE) directly supports our trades by coordinating the tools, equipment and consumables they need to safely and efficiently complete their work. If you enjoy managing requests, solving problems and working closely with people... This role will suit you!

You do not need to come from a trade or defence background to be successful. We are especially interested in candidates with purchasing or procurement experience who enjoy a fastmoving, customer focused environment.

Responsibilities

This is not a desk chained purchasing role. You’ll be a visible point of contact within the business, with trades regularly engaging you face to face to discuss their requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the first point of contact for trades requesting tools, equipment and consumables
  • Reviewing and coordinating standard and bespoke order requests
  • Raising purchase requisitions and CAPEX requests
  • Selecting equipment and items from ASC’s extensive internal catalogue (PLM)
  • Using systems such as IFS and PLM to raise, track and manage requirements
  • Liaising with internal buyers who complete procurement through approved vendors
  • Supporting the issue, return and tracking of tools and equipment
  • Coordinating hire equipment and managing asset records where required
  • Building strong working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders across WA and SA

Every day brings different requests and challenges — strong judgement, communication and adaptability are key to success in this role.

About you

This role will suit someone who:

• Has experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, stores or inventory roles
• Enjoys working through different requests and finding practical solutions
• Is comfortable engaging with people and building strong working relationships
• Communicates clearly and confidently with a wide range of stakeholders
• Is happy working within structured systems and governance frameworks

Defence, trade or engineering experience is not essential and we welcome applicants from a broad range of purchasing and supply backgrounds.

Test and Tag experience is preferred but not mandatory. ASC can support the right person with training and development, including obtaining Test and Tag qualifications as required.

A willingness to learn is more important than holding all certifications on day one.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Eligibility is dependent on meeting clearance requirements.

As this role involves access to protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality from certain foreign countries may not be eligible.

Further information can be found on the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website.
