About the Opportunity

As an experienced Non-Destructive Testing Team Lead you will be responsible for the daily work program and coordination of duties performed by NDT technicians and sub-contractors based at Osborne, SA.

 

Responsibilities

Key responsibility of this role is being internal customer focused in order to provide coordination and allocation of all NDT tasks to all technicians and sub-contractors to support and meet the demands of the ASC North Schedules. Facilitating the quality and consistency of work processes by NDT technicians in the department; effectively communicate NDT requirements and results to Production Team Leads, Managers and Personnel.

Additionally, you will maintain independence during quality inspection activities including monitoring processes to improve efficiency, effectiveness and quality of work. Ensuring the standard of documentation meets NATA requirements or is considered good practice for tests non-NATA accredited.

 

Key areas of work performed include:

  • Manage department technicians in the coordination of NDT tasks.
  • Ensure the department deliverables, products and services to ASC and external customers as part of our third-party requirements.
  • Develop and train other members of the NDT team, particularly Technical Officers ensuring the sharing of knowledge and lessons learnt to increase team capability and experience (i.e. all NDT methods etc.).
  • Comply with all WHS policies and procedures and ASC’s Equal Employment Opportunity and Diversity Policy.
  • Provide NDT consultative advice, as appropriate, to production and engineering staff on new and existing design work.
  • Ensuring the accuracy of work completed and the formalisation of this through signed reports/documentation.



About you 

  • Relevant Trade Certificate.
  • Relevant Management Training.
  • Extensive experience in a major engineering production projects and manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum AINDT Level 2 (or equivalent) qualifications in Radiography, Ultrasonics, Magnetic Particle and Dye Penetrant test methods.
  • Supervisory experience of NDT technicians and trainees.
  • SA EPA License to operate Ionising Radiation Apparatus and license to handle Radioactive Substances.
  • Eligibility for an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
  • Ability to work in a Confined Space Environment.
  • Physical ability of climbing e.g stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to demonstrate high level of communication skills and report writing.
  • Competent in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite.



Desirable qualifications

  • NDT Qualifications Level 2 (AINDT or Equivalent) Eddy Current Test.
  • Experience in Phased Array / TOFD methods.
  • White Card.



Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
