      About the Opportunity

      Reporting to the Head of Government Relations, the Senior Government Relations Adviser is responsible for supporting delivery of ASC’s Government Relations Strategy in Western Australia. The role will provide advice to the broader Corporate Affairs team on emerging risks and opportunities relating to ASC’s current and future operations.

      You will monitor issues and the sentiment of key decision makers, government departments, elected members, media, industry and community groups to advise ASC on a wide range of strategic and operational issues. Senior leaders and the Corporate Affairs team will be provided with high quality documents for engaging influential decision makers in government. You will be trusted to continually improve ASC’s processes and be responsive to changing stakeholder priorities. You will engage government, industry and public forums, and persuasively communicate ASC’s priorities.

      This is a full-time opportunity based at our Henderson site in WA.

       

      Responsibilities

      • Provide strategic awareness to the business by monitoring Australian and international government landscape.
      • Proactively identify emerging issues and strategic risks for ASC and the broader submarine enterprise.
      • Prepare written briefs, talking points, speeches, and other materials for internal use.
      • Proactively offer support to internal staff to navigate complex stakeholder issues.
      • Provide advice to the Head of Government Relations Chief Corporate Affairs Officer and other senior leaders as required on stakeholder priorities.
      • Identify opportunities to promote ASC’s mission with the government, industry and community in collaboration with the Stakeholder Relations team.
      • Maintain strong relationships with the internal ASC team members, subject matter experts and senior leaders
      • Assist the broader Corporate Affairs team to improve processes and technology to gain efficiencies for both the department and the wider business.

       

      About you 

      • Tertiary qualifications, preferably in political science, social science, law, communications or related field.
      • Proven experience providing support, advice and situational awareness to senior leaders.
      • Excellent verbal communication skills with a demonstrated understanding of communicating with influence across diverse audiences.
      • Strong written communication skills undertaking research, preparing reports, briefing notes, media releases, and talking points.
      • Manage multiple priorities and projects by coordinating with internal teams across international business
      • Manage sensitive information with tact and discretion.
      • Self-motivated to work independently whilst also contributing and engaging with SA based team
      • Develop and maintain relationships with a network or key people within the business and with external stakeholders

       

      Eligibility

      This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
