ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

As the Project Manager GFx, you will lead the development, implementation, and continuous management of Government‑Furnished Asset (GFx) processes and frameworks across the program. GFx refers to the materials, equipment, information, and facilities provided by the Commonwealth to enable submarine construction. Working within a highly complex, multinational environment, you will ensure GFx requirements are planned, governed, integrated, tracked, and delivered in alignment with contractual obligations and program milestones.

While the role requires familiarity with GFx concepts, it is not a technical asset‑management position. Instead, you will coordinate, track, and report on GFx activities to ensure they integrate seamlessly into the build program.

In this role, you will work closely with ASC, BAE Systems, government stakeholders, and international partners. Flexibility to engage across multiple time zones including meetings with UK counterparts is essential.

Responsibilities

GFx Coordination & Governance

  • Support the development of GFx frameworks, processes, and documentation.
  • Ensure GFx information is well‑organised, traceable, and compliant with program requirements.

Planning, Tracking & Integration

  • Align GFx requirements with schedules, milestones, and project dependencies.
  • Monitor progress and escalate issues early to avoid schedule impact.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Liaise with internal teams, Commonwealth representatives, BAE Systems, and international partners.
  • Facilitate communication and ensure timely delivery of GFx activities.

Risk, Compliance & Reporting

  • Maintain GFx‑related risks and action items.
  • Produce high‑quality reports, dashboards, and recommendations to support decision‑making.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in contract management, business, project management, or equivalent.
  • 5+ years’ experience in complex project environments at Project Manager level.
  • Understanding of GFx / GFM / GFF processes.
  • Experience in defence or similarly complex, regulated environments.
  • Strong organisational, analytical, and written communication skills.
  • Advanced Microsoft 365 and SharePoint capabilities.
  • Familiarity with JIRA or similar tools.
  • Proven stakeholder management in multifaceted project settings.
  • Ability to work autonomously and manage competing priorities.
  • AIPM certification (or equivalent) – desirable.
  • Flexibility to attend meetings with UK-based partners outside standard Australian business hours.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance. To check your eligibility please visit the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website.
