About the Opportunity

Permanent opportunity for an experienced Principal Scheduler reporting to the Scheduling Manager. The purpose of the role is principally technical support, direction and support for the ASC West scheduling function and team. This position is an integral part of our Nuclear Class Submarine (SSN) Sustainment Program, based in Henderson, WA. This position will be required to continuously review schedule information and be proactive in undertaking resolution of issues and executing corrective action through liaison with project stakeholders. You will also need to determine methods and improvements of collation, management, and reporting of project data, in addition to undertaking improvements to project scheduling processes and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a Contract Master Schedule (CMS), track key & cardinal milestones, and advise the project team of risks affecting these dates.
  • Monitor and control all activities through the project lifecycle (Initiation, Planning, Execution, Monitoring & Control, Closeout).
  • Design project planning and execution controls for various levels through schedule analysis and stakeholder engagement.
  • Monitor and report schedule compliance and track status of project deliverables.
  • Oversee, and/or conduct where appropriate Critical Path Analysis
  • Ensure the preparation of Earned Value (EV) reports and Schedule Variance Analysis occurs regularly and consistently
  • Ensure alignment to the corporate cost management tool (Cobra)
  • Facilitate schedule and EV reviews with Project Managers and Control Account Managers
  • Oversee all aspects of schedule reporting, being the primary point of contact for all schedule operational discussions, including managing the schedule architecture and processes within the ASC project scheduling function.
  • Provide leadership support, guidance and mentoring to assigned project schedulers, fostering capability development and positive team culture.
  • Build strong working relationships with stakeholders to ensure collaboration and alignment across projects.
  • Provide scheduling advice as required within the PMO and to related projects and Project Managers.

About You

  • Technical qualification in a relevant Engineering or trade discipline, or proven ability as a scheduler in a similar environment.
  • Strong & demonstrable understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) and its application in cost-schedule integration.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and maintaining complex program and project schedules, ideally within Defence, shipbuilding, or heavy engineering industries.
  • Previous experience leading a team of 5+ schedulers, with a focus on mentoring and developing capability.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to create positive working relationships across diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6, Excel, Power BI, Power Pivot, SQL, and visualisation tools.
  • Ability to conduct Schedule Health Assessments using industry standards (e.g., DCMA 14-point check).
  • Knowledge of risk analysis and contingency planning throughout the life cycle
  • Excellent communication skills to convey complex issues clearly to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to lead effectively in a collaborative environment, both locally and internationally.
  • Champions continuous improvement through lessons learned and process enhancements.

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance, an Australian Defence Security Clearance and an ability to access protected US defence technology. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearances and approvals.
