ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

This is a rare chance to play a pivotal leadership role in shaping ASC’s long‑term procurement strategy within the submarine enterprise. • Prepare high‑level strategy papers, briefs and recommendations for executive and board‑level governance forums.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment of procurement activities with organisational objectives.
  • Manage, mentor and develop corporate procurement teams, fostering a culture of accountability, performance and professional growth.
  • Ensure best‑practice procurement governance, ethical conduct, and compliance with legislation, ASC policies and the enterprise risk management framework.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate procurement risks to support submarine availability, capability and long‑term sustainment.

About you

  • Degree‑qualified or experienced in commerce, law, engineering or supply chain, with at least 10 years in senior supply chain leadership across defence, manufacturing, mining or heavy industry.
  • Demonstrated experience leading procurement transformation, scaling teams and enhancing capability.
  • Deep knowledge of procurement strategy, governance, risk management and end‑to‑end supply chain systems.
  • Adaptive to change and comfortable in ambiguity.
  • Proven ability to lead high‑performing teams and communicate complex information with clarity, both written and verbal.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively at senior management level.
  • Strategic mindset with a proactive, outcomes‑focused approach to planning, decision-making and business improvement.
  • Demonstrated integrity, professionalism and adherence to organisational, legal and public policy requirements.
