About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Planning Manager, the Production Planner is responsible for generating and maintaining production work orders and production control records required for production personnel to safely and efficiently execute tasks required to construct the submarine(s).

This includes interpreting detailed design data, technical specifications, bill of materials and quality requirements, including hold & witness points. All work is required to be conducted in accordance with departmental processes and routines, ensuring safety, quality, efficiency, accuracy and repeatability across all designated planning systems and databases. 

This role will play a key role in the establishment of a sovereign nuclear shipbuilding capability which will eventually build Australia’s SSN-AUKUS submarines.  

This is a full-time opportunity based at our Osborne site in SA.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide an accurate technical review of engineering specifications, technical drawings, and work instructions to ensure production tasks are clearly and concisely converted into production work packs
  • Generate production work packs in an accurate and efficient manner in line with scheduling requirements against high level build strategies
  • Liaise with Production, Engineering, and other stakeholders to ensure generated work packs are accurate and enable 'right first time" principles to be executed
  • Produce work that is safe and compliant with designated processes, routines, policies, and workflows
  • Advise and document the detailed sequence and steps required for production personnel to undertake complex scopes of work
  • Ideally demonstrate an understanding of shipbuilding practices, SUBSAFE policies, corporate quality processes and various standards.

 

About you 

  • Tertiary qualifications in an engineering discipline or trade qualification or background equivalent professional experience 
  • Proven ability to interpret complex engineering specifications, drawings, bill of materials and documentation.
  • Proven experience generating detailed reviews of engineering specifications, documentation, work instructions and recommendations that align and are compliant with planning systems 
  • Demonstrated experience with generating work orders and work packs in an efficient manner in line with scheduling requirements in a fast paced, highly regulated industry   
  • Proven experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite
  • Demonstrated experience in auditing technical documentation and Objective Quality Evidence.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Effective time management, planning, and organisational skills to achieve deadlines within a fast-paced environment

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
