About the Opportunity
 
A new opportunity for an experienced commercial advisor to work on new technologies, in a project not before seen in Australia. The Senior Commercial Advisor will provide contract and commercial advice, guidance and capability to the Nuclear Submarine Sustainment Program in accordance with ASC’s vision and strategy that ultimately results in improving the commercial value of ASC. 
 
The role requires a practical approach in delivery of the contractual obligations and resolution of issues and will require an ability to simply communicate complex issues. You will be a part of the program delivery team and work closely with a number of internal cross functional teams to ensure compliant and innovative delivery of the contract is maintained for the customer.
 
This full-time, WA based role is an opportunity to be at the ground level of a long-standing program delivering an important capability to Australia.
 
 
Responsibilities
 
• Provide contractual and commercial advice and guidance to the delivery team and wider business regarding contractual obligations under the head contract and its related contracts are maintained. 
• Prepare commercial related documents for submission to the client, for example, contract amendment documentation, work breakdown structures and contract deliverables.
• Manage the official contractual correspondence to the client.
• Support the program to navigate complex contract management issues and offer strategies for improvements to ensure contractual obligations are met for the program.
• Draft and negotiate contracts related to ASC’s Head Contract including contracts for leases, licences and training. 
• Develop and manage contract change proposals through to execution and support contract reviews and contract renewal negitiations
• Assess, analyse, evaluate and agree the commercial impact of changes. 
• Provide commercial advice regarding subcontract compliance to the head contract and its associated contracts.
 
 
About you 
 
• Bachelor’s degree in law, business, commerce, engineering, other relevant degree, or equivalent post graduate studies. 
• A minimum of six years of experience in a contract management, commercial, finance, legal or business advisory role.
• ASDEFCON and/or Defence experience required
• Contract management experience with the ability to independently resolve commercial issues. 
• Ability to develop and amend contractual terms and conditions. 
• Financially astute to be able to understand complex financial matters. 
• Strong attention to detail. 
• Ability to set priorities and achieve deadlines within a fast-paced VUCA environment. 
• Excellent stakeholder management both internally and externally. 
• Demonstrated performance working in outcome focused cross functional teams.
 
 
Eligibility
 
This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
