ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. About the Opportunity 

This Senior Project Manager is the ASC lead for the ensuring the successful planning, execution and closeout of significant projects associated with the Collins Class In-Service Submarines Maintenance Program within the ASC West Delivery Department. Projects may include maintenance availabilities, specific product modification and refurbishment; engineering and systems projects and business/process development and improvement projects.

Your role will be pivotal in the engagement and alignment of internal departments and stakeholders to ensure the project objectives are delivered.  You will be expected to work autonomously and be willing to make key decisions in the best interest of the Project whilst also being able to understand and balance Project Specific requirements against best for Program outcomes.   

 

Responsibilities

  • Setting clear safety expectations with the Project Team and demonstrating strong Safety Leadership through your behaviours and actions. 
  • Manage complex, high-value, large-scale or multi-stream projects/programs including planning, integration, scope, schedule, cost, quality, performance, risk, change, procurement management. 
  • Provide performance management, coaching and career development for Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers.  
  • Overall accountability for the safe and efficient delivery of the planning, execution and close out phases in accordance with approved project management processes. 
  • Leading the development of the schedule performance baseline and then monitoring project performance trends, analysing variances and developing corrective actions to ensure delivery against the performance baseline. 
  • Leading the coordination and engagement with client representatives, internal functional departments and stakeholders and external contractors as required, to ensure the project objectives are understood and delivered.     

 

About You 

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience project management experience in a complex project environment such as submarines, aerospace, mining or equivalent.
  • Proven experience developing high performing teams to meet operational goals and a strong commitment to Safety Leadership in the workplace.
  • Proven experience building strong business relationships with key stakeholders such as ASC, other defense customers or the Australian Commonwealth - Excellent communication, negotiation, and influence skills.
  • Autonomous, outcome oriented and capable of managing multiple priorities and complex problem solvingtas with limited direction in fast-paced, ambiguous environment.

 

Eligibility 

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

Whilst ASC will accept all applications for this role, as this role requires an ability to access protected US defence technology, applicants holding nationality of certain foreign countries will not be eligible.
