To deliver on this new and exciting work, we are seeking skilled Test Engineer to undertake long-term, world-leading training in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, U.S.

Placements are available in September 2025 and will be approximately 115 weeks in duration.
Responsibilities
As a Test Engineer, you will typically be responsible for:
Assisting in formulating an integrated test schedule and reviews the preliminary work package and recommend additional tests or changes to test parameters to meet technical, operational and safety requirements
Plan and enact total Work Control and/or Test Program for ship assigned utilising the Ship’s Work Package, Job Orders, Job Summaries, Task group Instructions and schedule
Prepare detailed test procedures based on NAVSEA derived specifications
Coordinate and direct all assigned HM&E and Combat Systems testing and coordinates efforts of shops and ships force
Plan and develop ancillary schedules for hydrostatic, flush and operational testing, Operational Testing, and Sea Trials to test the full capability of the ship’s systems (non-nuclear)
Eligibility Criteria
The successful applicant must possess:
Australian Citizenship
Bachelor of Engineering OR Suitable experience from a test and activation environment PLUS Cert III Trade qualification in Engineering
1-5 years' experience (desirable)
Experience within the defence industry or on submarines (desirable)
An ability to obtain and maintain a NV1 defence clearance
Additional Details
During deployment, you will receive on the job training combined with instructor led classroom training. This training program and work is carried out in accordance with company and US Navy processes and procedures.
At the completion of your deployment, you will return to Western Australia (WA) to carry out the planning, management, and in-water maintenance activities on the United States Navy Virginia Class Submarines at HMAS Stirling. Repatriation to WA is non-negotiable, so please consider this when applying.
Please note: This is a Civilian role and recruitment processes will differ from those undertaken in Active Service Defence recruitment.
