About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager to support the successful delivery of complex and high-value projects within Collins Class Delivery department. This role is pivotal in ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget, while providing leadership and guidance to Project Coordinators.
Reporting to the Project Manager, you will be accountable for delivering detailed project management and support activities across all phases of the project lifecycle. You may manage the planning, execution, and closeout of elements of a major project or oversee one or more minor projects. You will work closely with departments such as Engineering, Quality, Planning, Production, Supply Chain, PMO, and Finance to ensure alignment and readiness for execution.
This role will be based between Henderson and Garden Island.
Responsibilities:
Conducting project risk and opportunity reviews and managing mitigation strategies.
Coordinating cross-functional inputs and ensuring resource availability for successful project execution.
Preparing and collating reports for weekly, monthly, and quarterly reviews, including Safely on Time data, EAC inputs, and gate review presentations.
Driving continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and contributing to process enhancements.
Ensuring compliance with WHS, EEO, and legal training requirements, with no overdue obligations.
Actively contributing to ASC’s Submarine Safety Culture and governance activities.
About You

You’ll bring:
Tertiary qualifications in a technical or project management discipline or equivalent experience in systems engineering, naval construction, or complex asset management.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a complex project environment at Project Engineer level (or equivalent).
Practical knowledge of scheduling, Earned Value Management (EVM), financial, stakeholder, and personnel management.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with excellent negotiation and persuasion abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities with limited supervision and sound judgment.
Eligibility for an Australian Defence Security Clearance (NV1) and familiarity with ITAR regulations.
Diploma or higher qualifications in Project Management (Desirable)
Membership of AIPM or equivalent (Desirable)
