About the Opportunity

The Assistant Project Manager – Infrastructure supports the delivery of NPSCY (Nuclear Powered Submarine Construction Yard) Infrastructure objectives by assisting with project planning, scheduling and coordination in a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment. The role contributes and supports the management of scope, cost, risk, schedule and refinement of internal processes and ensuring technical deliverables are met in line with project requirements. Success requires flexibility, adaptability, autonomy and strong collaboration as priorities evolve across SCY delivery phases.

 

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the Project Manager – Infrastructure in managing and coordinating project activities across all phases of the lifecycle.
  • Maintain and refine processes that enable effective delivery of SCY Infrastructure objectives.
  • Assist with implementing project processes and ensuring alignment with approved plans and documentation.
  • Track and monitor progress across Infrastructure workstreams and update relevant schedules.
  • Support cost monitoring and reporting against internal budgets.
  • Prepare internal management reports for the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager – Infrastructure.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to ensure clear communication and timely delivery of Infrastructure activities.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, commercial bids and other Infrastructure-related activities as required.

 

About you

  • Diploma or higher qualifications in a technical or project management discipline or equivalent experience in a systems engineering, naval construction or complex asset management / development environment.
  • Demonstrable practical knowledge of Scope and schedule management, Earned Value Management, financial and stakeholder management as applicable to a project environment.
  • Membership of AIPM or equivalent desirable.
  • Demonstrates strong communication, and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities autonomously while remaining resilient and customer‑focused.
  • Shows sound judgment, works effectively within a team, and is motivated, persuasive, and highly capable in both planning and stakeholder engagement.
  • Effective time management, planning, and organizational skills.

 

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance (Negative Vetting Level 1). Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
