About the Opportunity

Join ASC’s Skills and Training Academy (STA) as a Learning & Development Specialist and play a pivotal role in shaping the future submarine and shipbuilding workforce. In this role, you’ll design and deliver contemporary learning solutions that support the Academy’s establishment and strategic workforce development goals. Working closely with BAE Systems and a range of internal and external partners, you’ll develop innovative curriculum, lead training needs analysis and contribute to building a high-performing learning environments in a purpose-built training facility at Osborne.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, implementation and evaluation of STA learning and development initiatives.
  • Conduct training needs analyses and create fit‑for‑purpose learning solutions, including digital and e-learning content.
  • Collaborate with ASC, BAE Systems and key stakeholders to ensure alignment with workforce development priorities.
  • Manage L&D projects, ensuring timely delivery and effective coordination of learning programs.
  • Analyse data, reports and publications to inform briefings, documentation and L&D decision-making.
  • Maintain strong relationships with P&C, L&D teams and strategic partners to support training outcomes.
  • Provide expert L&D advice to business leaders to meet operational and capability development objectives.

 

About you 

  • Qualified (or can demonstrate equivalent work experience) in Education, Human Resources, Learning & Development, Adult Education or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience (min 5+ years) designing and delivering training in complex, multidisciplinary environments ideally within defence.
  • Strong background in creating contemporary learning programs, including e-learning and digital instructional design.
  • Skilled in the use of Learning Management Systems (LMS) and modern digital learning approaches.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with a talent for inspiring learners and guiding teams.
  • Innovative mindset with the ability to develop engaging, effective learning resources.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the agility to adapt programs to changing needs.

 

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to a Baseline level. Your eligibility for this role is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
