ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. We have also been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build the nation’s nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia’s history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia’s national security. We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work. A career at ASC is like no other, delivering a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Head of Resource Planning, the Resource Planning Manager – MCS is responsible for providing clear, data‑driven workforce insights to ensure the right people with the right skills are deployed to deliver the MCS program. This role connects capability development and execution teams with the program, supporting tracking, analysis and reporting of workforce demand, resource allocation, training progress and recruitment activity across the program.

The Resource Planning Manager engages with MCS stakeholders, Finance, Bid Management, P&C and Recruitment teams to translate operational forecasts and BoEs into practical, executable resourcing plans that optimise workforce utilisation.

This role evaluates all people supply channels—including existing workforce availability, capability pools, training and development pathways, graduates and apprentices, labour market insights, and recruitment needs—to inform proactive resourcing decisions. It further supports the development of consistent data structures, taxonomies and reporting processes to ensure ASC maintains a single, accurate source of truth for resource planning, program and capability data.

This is a full-time opportunity based at either our Osborne site in SA or Henderson in WA

Responsibilities

  • Track, analyse and report on workforce demand, resource allocation, training outcomes and recruitment progress to ensure the MCS Program has the right skills deployed at the right time.
  • Identify and define short‑term resourcing strategies for the MCS Program aligned to enterprise‑wide resource needs.
  • Support the design and maintenance of data structures, taxonomies and processes for internal resource planning to enable a consistent, enterprise-wide ‘single source of truth’.
  • Drive alignment across programs to ensure consistent and accurate data capture and reporting.
  • Support development and implementation of a consistent framework for assessing critical roles (including nuclear baseline single-point-of-failure positions) and integrating this into resource demand planning.

 About you

  • Strong workforce planning, forecasting and resource optimisation skills.
  • Ability to interpret BoEs and translate data into actionable resourcing plans.
  • Confident stakeholder engagement with ability to engage and influence across programs, departments and teams.
  • Experience developing and improving resource planning processes and data structures.
  • Ability to assess talent supply channels (internal workforce, pools, training, graduates, recruitment).
  • Clear communication skills with the ability to present insights and recommendations
  • Ability to work autonomously across organisational boundaries to achieve outcomes
