ASC is Australia’s submarine company. We built the Royal Australian Navy’s Collins Class submarines, sustain them, and are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats’ service lives. About the Opportunity

This role shapes the future of ASC. As Head of Early Careers – Development Programs, you will lead the organisation through its delivery of our graduate, apprentice, and traineeship programs, building the capability we will rely on for decades to come.

You will lead a specialist team, and work closely with technical leaders to ensure early career talent is set up to thrive. This is a senior role with visibility, influence, and the chance to leave a lasting legacy.

 

Responsibilities

  • Set and oversee the delivery of ASC’s early careers programs aligned to long‑term workforce needs.
  • Partner with senior business leaders and People & Culture to drive milestone awareness, clear accountabilities and task assignment across the organisation.
  • Embed strong execution discipline, reporting and governance
  • Lead and develop the Early Careers Department, including coaching and pastoral care oversight.
  • Monitor program performance, risks, funding, and outcomes.
  • Represent ASC at relevant external events and support relevant external relationships.
  • Support continuous improvement to keep programs relevant, scalable, and impactful.

 

About you

  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Education, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Experience leading early careers or large workforce development programs in complex organisations.
  • Exceptional stakeholder partner across technical, operational, and corporate groups.
  • Strong leadership capability, with experience building capable, engaged teams.
  • Proven ability to think long term while delivering strong operational outcomes.
  • A practical, outcomes‑focused approach, with a passion for developing future talent.

 

Eligibility

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance. Your eligibility is dependent on you obtaining and maintaining such clearance.
